Exhibitions of Argentine and Latin American art. Curatorship, design, and cultural policies (GEME, 2011)*
GEME continued under the coordination of María José Herrera and in September 2009 held the second exhibition conference in Córdoba, together with the Argentine Association of Art Critics and the Dr. Figueroa Alcorta School of Fine Arts (Córdoba). As a result of this meeting, in April 2011 GEME published its second book, " Exhibitions of Argentine and Latin American Art: Curatorship, Design, and Cultural Policies."
In the prologue, María José Herrera points out that since the formation of GEME, they have worked in two modalities: that of addressing historical exhibitions by introducing published and unpublished information through the rescue, formation, and dissemination of archives, and what they called "the curator's voice," which involved reflecting on the practice in the first person, contributing issues that go beyond the possibilities of a catalog or other format, becoming a testimony.
Half of the 23 works in this volume were dedicated to exhibitions and/or curatorial experiences that took place in La Plata, Rosario, Córdoba, Posadas, and Salta, and which make an unprecedented contribution to the study of this field.
*Research conducted for my master's thesis (2019) "Curatorial dynamics in Argentina. Reconstruction of curatorial studies between 2002 and 2017" (in press), co-directed by María José Herrera and Laura Vanesa Vazquez.
